HWY 542

State Route 542, also known as the Mount Baker Highway, is the gateway to mountain recreation and breathtaking views.  It heads east out of Bellingham 60 miles terminating at the top of 5,140 feet Artist Point.  The last 5 miles are closed during the winter months as it is covered in 10 - 20 feet of snow.  The most photographed mountain in Washington State, Mount Shuksan, is located here.
